Kim Huynh Dies in Collision With Tree on 215 Freeway Near Murrieta Hot Springs Road
MURRIETA, CA (December 17, 2018) – An 18-year-old San Diego woman died Thursday night after the vehicle in which she was operating plowed into a tree on the 215 Freeway near Murrieta Hot Springs Road.
Authorities said the crash happened around 8:15 p.m. when Kim Thien Huynh was at the wheel of a 2017 Honda Accord heading southbound on the 215 Freeway. Under unknown circumstances, the 18-year-old lost control of the wheel and spun out in the fast lane after traveling at speeds of about 65 mph.
The 2017 Honda Accord veered across three lanes of traffic and struck a tree. Huynh suffered fatal injuries and her front seat passenger, identified as a 22-year-old San Diego woman, suffered minor injuries.
The fatal crash is under investigation by authorities.
