Cherise Wafer Faces Charges in San Francisco Deadly Vehicle Crash

San Francisco, CA (November 29, 2023) – 56-year-old Kham Ky Lam of Daly City was killed following an Airport Boulevard collision early Tuesday morning.

Prosecutors said that on November 21, 40-year-old Cherise Wafer of Antioch was speeding on the wrong side of the road and traveled through at least two intersections with traffic lights prior to the deadly head-on collision.

Officers said that after the collision, Wafer walked into Denny’s restaurant and asked for a glass of water. Troopers said Wafer did not say anything about the collision or asked for the police to be called.

Later on, the authorities arrived and Wafer made multiple inconsistent statements to them. Investigators said she has a history of mental illness.

Wafer pleaded not guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter for allegedly causing a collision that killed Kham Ky Lam. She will return to court on December 7 for a preliminary hearing and will be in custody on $50,000 bail.
