1 Dead in Modesto Auto Accident on L Street and State Route 99

MODESTO, CA (May 13, 2023) – Friday morning, a tragic crash on L Street and State Route 99 injured Kevin Nakhiengchanh.

The incident happened at about 1:16 a.m. on L Street off-ramp from State Route 99.

According to reports, a vehicle had caught fire, trapping at least one person inside.

Officers revealed that they found the Toyota sedan on its passenger side resting against a tree. Also, it showed signs of major rollover damage.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Modesto Fire Department tried to put off the fire to rescue the person trapped inside the wreckage.

However, the female occupant succumbed to her injuries sustained in the fire.

Meanwhile, the other passenger, 30-year-old Nakhiengchanh of Modesto, managed to exit the vehicle and had moderate to major injuries.

Also, the CHP’s initial investigation revealed that the vehicle tried to exit onto the L Street off-ramp. However, the driver lost control and hit a tree.

Meanwhile, the authorities haven’t determined whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash.

Law enforcement clarified that both occupants failed to wear their seatbelts.
