Kennedy Francisco Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 40 Freeway Near Highway 95
NEEDLES, CA (December 9, 2019)—An 11-year-old boy died on Thanksgiving Day after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on the 40 Freeway near Highway 95.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle accident unfolded around 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 28.
Investigators learned that Kennedy Francisco of San Bernardino flew from the vehicle following the accident and landed on the 40 Freeway lanes. A passing motorist subsequently struck him as he lay on the streets.
However, that driver continued driving eastbound and failed to help the gravely injured child who died at the scene.
According to a GoFundMe page, Francisco, his mother and his two brothers—ages one and 14—were on their way to Bullhead City, Ariz., for the holidays.
Heavy rain and wet road conditions most likely caused the mother to lose control of the car before it crashed. She, as well as the other two children, suffered significant injuries.
Investigators are seeking witnesses’ help in identifying the vehicle or the hit-and-run driver’s whereabouts. Anyone with information should contact CHP Sgt. Pena or Officer Alvarado at 760-326-2000.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the bereaved family and friends of Kennedy Francisco. We hope you find comfort and strength in those around you.
