Juan Castro of Thermal Dies in Tragic 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 86 [Coachella, CA]

Coachella, CA (September 30, 2024) On Sunday afternoon, 62-year-old Juan Castro of Thermal lost his life after a 2-vehicle collision on Highway 86.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD), the fatal crash happened before 2 p.m. south of the Highway 86 overpass at Avenue 52.

Emergency responders had to extricate Castro from his vehicle before transporting him to a hospital in Indio.

Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the collision.

The coroner confirmed that Castro’s fatal injuries occurred on the northbound side of the highway.

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s department is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and has yet to release further details.

The other driver involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
