1 Dead in Wasco Auto Accident on Highway 43 and Pond Road
WASCO, CA (April 12, 2022) – Last Thursday, Juan Antonio Fernandez died in a crash on Highway 43 and Pond Road.
The incident happened at around 3:39 p.m. on April 7th. According to reports, Juan Antonio Fernandez drove a Toyota Corolla on Pond Road and Highway 65. Then, a Ford SUV struck and killed him.
Meanwhile, the investigation revealed that Fernandez drove west on Pond Road. Then, he stopped for a stop sign at the Highway 43 intersection. Meanwhile, a Ford Expedition’s male driver headed north on Highway 43 at about 65 mph.
For reasons still unknown, Fernandez entered the intersection and drove directly into the path of the Ford. When the Ford driver noticed the Toyota, the driver hit the brakes. However, he crashed into the driver’s side of the Toyota.
As a result, Juan Antonio Fernandez died at the scene. Meanwhile, the Ford driver suffered a minor injury.
Also, officers ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash.
