Josie Stijepovic Injured in Old Woman Springs Road Fatal Crash [Landers, CA]

Landers, CA (November 22, 2023) On Monday morning, 2 Twentynine Palms residents were killed and 39-year-old Josie Stijepovic of Helendale was hurt in a tragic vehicle crash on Old Woman Springs Road.

According to the CHP, the deadly vehicle collision happened around 8:35 a.m. on Old Woman Springs Road north of Olivine Road.

Reports say that Stijepovic was driving a southbound 2019 Jeep Cherokee that attempted to pass a vehicle over double-yellow lines within the northbound lane.

Officials say that the Jeep collided with a northbound 2017 Kia Optima that was driven by a 36-year-old Twentynine Palms man and had a female passenger, a 33-year-old Twentynine Palms woman.

Authorities say that the collision killed the Twentynine Palms woman at the scene and injured the driver, medics rushed the man to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Stijepovic suffered major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center.

The CHP is investigating the fatal vehicle collision.
