Josie Montijo Dies in 3-Car Accident on 10 Freeway Near Rice Road
DESERT CENTER, CA (December 19, 2019)—A 33-year-old woman died in a three-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway near Rice Road Sunday night.
Josie Montijo has been identified as the El Centro woman who perished in the 10:17 p.m. accident, the Coroner’s Bureau reported.
In addition, two people sustained minor injuries; however, the specifics of their injuries were uncertain.
According to reports, the three vehicles collided under unknown circumstances on the westbound side of the 10 Freeway. Reports say firefighters performed CPR on Montijo, whom they found trapped inside her vehicle due to the impact.
As a result, two of the cars sustained minor damage and one sustained significant damage.
Because details are unclear, authorities plan to investigate this case further to determine where the fault lies.
