Joshua Boykin Killed, Jeffery Smith and Anycze Munson Uninjured in Motorcycle Crash in Jamestown
JAMESTOWN, CA (March 18, 2019) – A 45-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday on Highway 120 near Obyrnes Ferry Road.
The accident took place around 6:30 p.m. According to reports, Joshua Cody Boykin of Ceres moved into the eastbound lanes from the westbound side to pass up slower moving traffic.
However, as he tried passing up the vehicles, a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe also moved into the eastbound lanes. The Tahoe was also trying to pass slow lanes when it struck the motorcycle.
As a result of the impact, the Yamaha motorcycle veered up an eastside embankment. Boykin was ejected from the Yamaha after it became airborne. The 45-year-old rider died shortly after, despite wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The Tahoe driver, Jeffery Smith, 25, and his passenger Anycze Munson, 24, of Turlock where not injured.
According to the California Highway Patrol, alcohol has been ruled out as a possible factor in the collision.
