Chandler, AZ (June 9, 2021) – Early Wednesday morning, a bicyclist identified as 40-year-old Joseph Theodore Kowalczyk died in a hit-and-run crash on Alma School Road.
Subsequently, police arrested Ryan Sean Pereira and booked him into jail on one count of failure to stop after an accident involving a death or injury, a class 2 felony.
The Chandler fatal hit-and-run crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. on June 9, near Del Rio Street, which is south of Ray Road.
Chandler police said Kowalczyk was riding north on Alma School Road when Pereira hit him from behind with his 1500 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Then Pereira drove off.
