Joseph Ordway Dies in Highway 101 Accident Near North Los Carneros Road
GOLETA, CA (June 14, 2019) – A 27-year-old man died Monday in a rollover crash on Highway 101 South near North Los Carneros Road.
The family has created a GoFundMe page to help raise memorial funds for Joseph Ordway.
Authorities are still investigating the details of the accident that happened before 1 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Chevrolet Silverado pickup that Ordway was driving veered to the left and struck a guardrail for unknown reasons. Ordway tried swerving to the right yet overcorrected to the left and struck the guardrail again.
As a result of the impact, the pickup truck overturned. Since the Goleta man was unrestrained in a seatbelt, the forceful impact ejected him, causing him major injuries.
Soon after, paramedics transported him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he died.
The crash, which prompted crews to detour southbound traffic at North Los Carneros Road, remains under CHP investigation.
We would like to send our sincere thoughts and sympathies to the friends and family of Joseph Ordway.
