The fatal crash happened at about 3:40 a.m. According to CHP investigators, a Volkswagen Jetta traveled south on the 680 Freeway, north of Alcosta Boulevard.

Also, the incident shut down the freeway for more than one hour.

At this time, the authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Dublin office of the CHP at (925) 828-0466.
