Joseph Gingerich Dead, Marcus Limasvega Involved in Pedestrian Accident on 80 Freeway Near Currey Road
DIXON, CA (April 9, 2019) – A 58-year-old pedestrian died Monday morning after a vehicle struck him on the 80 Freeway near Currey Road.
According to authorities, Joseph Gingerich was driving his white Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on the freeway. Traveling in the slow lane, a ladder fell off the back of his truck.
Upon spotting this, Gingerich over to the right shoulder and reversed toward the ladder’s location around 8:10 a.m.
Yet as he tried retrieving the ladder, an oncoming gray Toyota Camry struck the Dixon man, causing him fatal injuries.
Following the accident, paramedics pronounced Gingerich dead at the scene. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Marcus Limasvega, of Vacaville, stayed on site and cooperated with investigators. It is not clear at this point where the fault lays.
According to reports, the crash remains under investigation and California Highway Patrol is urging witnesses to call 1-800-835-5247 if they hold any insight.
