Jose Nazareth Dead, Emile Kheir Unhurt Following Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway On-Ramp at Norwalk Boulevard
NORWALK, CA (December 17, 2018) – A 27-year-old pedestrian lost his life Friday evening after being struck by a motorist on the 5 Freeway on-ramp at Norwalk Boulevard.
When the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a crash around 8 p.m., they found a victim about 800 feet just south of Norwalk Boulevard.
A preliminary investigation led authorities to believe that Jose Nazareth, of Anaheim, was walking in the No. 1 lane of the on-ramp when a 2012 Honda, driven by 68-year-old Emile Kheir of Fullerton, struck him.
Nazareth suffered serious injuries and was shuttled to a hospital where he died shortly after. Kheir was unharmed and cooperated with investigators at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs were not considered as factors in the crash, yet it was undetermined whether Nazareth was under the influence at the time. Anyone who has any information about this crash is asked to call Officer Boyd at the Santa Fe Springs CHP office at (562) 868-0503.
