Jose Mendoza-Menjivar and Another Killed in Blanco Road Collision [Salinas, CA]

Salinas, CA (November 2, 2023) – 21-year-old Jose Mendoza-Menjivar from Salinas and 30-year-old Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno from Marina, were both killed in a Blanco Road collision Tuesday night.

The fatal wrong-way collision happened around 11:53 p.m. in the area of Hitchcock Road.

An eastbound 2001 Chrysler Sebring driven by Guzman-Tenangueno on Blanco Road began driving the wrong way in the westbound lane.

As a result, the Chrysler collided with a Honda Civic driven by Mendoza-Menjivar.

The two drivers died at the scene while Mendoza-Menjivar’s female passenger, also 21-year-old from Salinas, was transported to Natividad Medical Center for moderate injuries.

Responding officers said both vehicles incurred heavy damage and the 2021 silver Honda Civic was stuck in a ditch. 

CHP is investigating what caused this accident. They said they are not yet sure if drugs or alcohol were factors.
