Jose Mejia Hurt in Compton Car Accident
COMPTON, CA (June 25, 2019) – Three people suffered injuries Monday morning in a police chase accident at East Compton and North Long Beach boulevards.
According to reports, the event unfolded around 9:30 a.m. when deputies spotted a reportedly stolen vehicle. In an attempt to pull over the driver, the suspect failed to comply and led officers on a brief pursuit.
While trying to escape deputies, the suspected stolen vehicle collided with another car, driven by 55-year-old Jose Mejia.
The East Los Angeles man suffered numerous lacerations and a back injury but is expected to survive, reports noted.
Also, a woman sitting at a nearby bus stop suffered minor injuries when debris from the crash struck her. However, her name was not available.
The pursuit driver believed to be a man in his 30s, suffered unknown injuries. Police arrested him shortly after.
