Jorge Castaneda Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on State Route 41 [Atascadero, CA]

Atascadero, CA (September 20, 2021) – On Sunday, a male pedestrian dies, and police arrested 26-year-old Jorge Castaneda of Paso Robles, in a hit-and-run crash on State Route 41.

The fatal accident took place at about  7:39 p.m. near the intersection of Santa Rosa Road.

When the authorities arrived, they located two vehicles involved in a head-on crash. Witnesses said that the a jeep driver crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle. 

As a result, the second vehicle’s occupants received moderate to minor injuries. 

The jeep driver fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

During the initial investigation, police located a male pedestrian who was fatally struck by the same jeep, however, the crash was not reported to the authorities. 

Atascadero Police arrested Castaneda in Atascadero this morning.

Meanwhile, the authorities withheld the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
