Jonathan Mancillia Arrested for Hit-and-Run Hazel Dell Accident
HAZEL DELL, WA (February 25, 2019) – A man was arrested for hit-and-run Tuesday night after striking and injuring a pedestrian. The pedestrian was on Hazel Dell Avenue near 82nd Street at the time of the accident.
At 5:45 p.m., 24-year-old Jonathan E. Mancillia crashed into a black Toyota Corolla while changing lanes. The two-car accident happened near the intersection of 99th Street and Northeast 6th Avenue.
Next, Mancillia reportedly exited his black Ford F-150 and began speaking with the driver of the Toyota. Mancillia informed the driver that he needed to grab insurance information from the truck but, instead, fled the scene.
The other driver managed to follow Mancillia, who then struck the pedestrian who was crossing Hazel Dell Avenue.
The male unidentified pedestrian was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mancillia remained at the scene after stiking the pedestrian. He was arrested on suspicion of a hit-and-run and other traffic violations.
Leaving the scene of an accident is a felony and should never be encouraged. A car accident can leave anyone in a panic, but it is always best to stay calm and check on others involved if possible. Drivers must remember that leaving the scene of an accident will cost you.
