Jonathan Garcia Killed in Fiery Collision on Mission Inn Avenue Near Arfon Way
RIVERSIDE, CA (May 8, 2019) – Last Wednesday’s fiery crash on Mission Inn Avenue near Arfon Way claimed a 33-year-old man’s life.
According to reports, authorities responded to the 11:45 p.m. crash after receiving 911 calls regarding a pickup truck and a big rig.
Upon arriving, officials found an overturned truck that was fully engulfed in flames. Not too far from the torched vehicle was a semi-truck and its driver who appeared uninjured.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze soon after while paramedics performed resuscitation efforts on the gravely injured driver.
However, despite life-saving efforts, Jonathan Garcia died at 12:05 a.m. just minutes after the accident.
Reports indicated that Garcia had been ejected from his pickup truck, landing about 50 feet from his overturned vehicle.
However, an investigation of this crash remains.
Thus far, police determined that the 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck was determined to be traveling eastbound on Mission Inn Avenue. At a high rate of speed, the Chevrolet collided with the 2011 Freightliner’s rear. The fierce impact ejected Garcia from the cabin, which resulted in his severe injuries.
Although authorities have some information, the ongoing investigation continues as details remain unclear.
