Jon Tomassetti Detained for DUI After Striking Gas Pump at Florida Avenue and South Meridian Street
HEMET, CA (December 27, 2018) – Two children escaped injuries after an alleged DUI driver crashed into a Hemet gas station at Florida Avenue and South Meridian Street on Christmas Eve.
Jon Ross Tomassetti was identified as the 28-year-old driver who was operating the red Honda Civic that crashed into a gas pump at a gas station. The incident happened around 6:10 p.m. after officers responded to reports of a crash.
The red Honda Civic, which was occupied by two children in the back seat who were not injured, sustained front-end damage after having lost control, jumped a curb and mowed down some bushes at a business. Tomassetti suffered minor head injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The 28-year old was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested after failing a sequence of sobriety tests. He was then booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
Being under the influence of alcohol can make you more susceptible to reckless driving. If you decide to drink, remember to rely on other methods of transportation home. Drinking and driving is never a good idea and it’s always discouraged.
