John Haugen Dies, Gary Barbier Injured in Head-On Crash on Athens Avenue [Lincoln, CA]

68-Year-Old John Haugen of Rocklin Killed in Head-On Crash on Athens Avenue

 
Lincoln, CA (December 29, 2020) – On Monday, 68-year-old John Haugen of Rocklin died, while 59-year-old Gary Barbier was injured in a head-on crash on Athens Avenue.
 
The fatal incident took place at about 11:29 a.m. at the intersection with North Foothills Boulevard.
 
Witnesses said Haugen was driving a Chevy SUV at a slow speed heading east on Athens Avenue swerving in the lane and stuck a white Ford Utility truck head-on.
 
Also, a witness told CHP it looked like Haugen might have had an unspecified medical emergency.
 
When responders arrived, they found Haugen in the driver’s seat unresponsive and was declared dead.
 
The Ford driver, Barbier, suffered minor injuries. Responders took him to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
 
Authorities do not consider alcohol and/or drugs to be a factor in the accident.
 
Authorities closed the traffic in the area for about two hours.
