John Grube Killed in Vehicle Crash on Murphy Street [Odessa, TX]

Odessa, TX (April 21, 2023) – On April 19, 86-year-old John Grube died in a vehicle crash on Murphy Street in the area of Business 20.

Investigating officers said that a Honda driven by Grube was eastbound on Murphy Street, while at the same time, a Ford F-250 with a trailer was westbound on the same street. 

Grube failed to yield the right of way and hit the front of the Ford while attempting to make a left turn. 

As a result, the Ford rested on the train tracks. The Ford driver was able to exit the vehicle before it was hit by a passing train. 

Unfortunately, Grube died in the collision while his passenger was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition. 

The Ford driver transported to MCH and is in stable condition. 

Officers are investigating this fatal collision.
