Normand Cloutier Arrested after the Fatal Beaver Street Crash in Flagstaff
Flagstaff, AZ (May 28, 2021) – Friday evening, 29-year-old Joanna Wheaton died and four bicyclists sustained injuries after a truck plowed into a group of riders at Beaver Street.
The Flagstaff fatal crash happened at around 7 p.m. on May 28.
According to Flagstaff police, a truck towing a moving truck was heading west on Butler Avenue when the driver ran a red signal at Beaver Street.
A group of bicyclists headed south on Beaver Street had the green light and had just entered the intersection when the westbound truck hit six of the riders.
The impact then resulted in the immediate death of Wheaton. EMS transported four other bicyclists to the Flagstaff Medical Center.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was identified as a 58-year-old Normand Cloutier of Flagstaff.
Further, the police said Cloutier would be charged with causing death by moving violation.
