Jimmy Contreras Dead After Crash on 16th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (May 15, 2024) –  On Tuesday night, 68-year-old Jimmy Contreras died in a crash on 16th Street and Thomas Road.

Police are investigating a car striking a man in central Phoenix on Tuesday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers arrived at the scene at 16th Street and Thomas Road and discovered Contreras seriously injured. 

They rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Investigators suspect that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Thomas Road hit Contreras while he was in the eastbound lanes just east of 16th Street. 

The driver stayed at the scene after the collision, but it remains uncertain whether they will face any charges.
