19-Year-Old Jesus Manuel Ceniceros Killed in DUI Crash on Carlotta Drive [El Paso, TX]

Driver Arrested in Marne Drive Deadly Collision

El Paso, TX (January 30, 2024) – 19-year-old Jesus Manuel Ceniceros was killed in a DUI crash on Carlotta Drive Saturday morning.

The deadly solo-vehicle crash happened at around 2:40 a.m. at the intersection with Marne Drive.

Investigators said 18-year-old Nathan Rudy Rodriguez was driving a southbound 2012 Honda Civic on Carlotta Drive and crashed into a rock wall. The vehicle caught fire killing his passenger, Ceniceros.

Investigators asked Rodriguez where he was driving from and he told the authorities he was coming from a friend’s house. Rodriguez also said that he’d asked Ceniceros to drive his vehicle because Ceniceros said he was fine to drive and it was only minutes to Rodriguez’s house.

Those who witnessed the accident identified Rodriguez as the vehicle’s driver and Ceniceros as the passenger.

Officers said Rodriguez incurred bruising and redness on his chest and collarbone and determined he’d been wearing a seatbelt in the driver’s seat position.

A friend of the pair told the authorities they were drinking and Rodriguez left the home. The friend worried Rodriguez was too intoxicated to drive and followed them.

They saw Rodriguez crash into the rock wall and Ceniceros was partially under the dashboard while Rodriguez was still in the driver’s seat.

The friend reported to 911 as the car began to catch fire and pulled Ceniceros out of the vehicle to perform CPR.

Moreover, the friend told the investigators that he was attempting to perform CPR on Ceniceros when Rodriguez ended the call with 911. The friend was forced to dial 911 again to get instructions on how to perform CPR.

Responding officers conducted a field sobriety check wherein Rodriguez failed.

Rescuers rushed Rodriguez to Mission Valley Regional Command Center and he submitted a breathalyzer test showing results of 0.17 and 0.15.

Later on, officers booked Rodriguez into the El Paso County Detention Center with a charge of one count of intoxication manslaughter on a $150,000 bond.

Court documents noted that Ceniceros would have turned 20 years old on Tuesday, January 30.

Investigating officers said speed and alcohol played roles in this accident.

A GoFundMe was created by his mother to cover Ceniceros’ funeral costs.
