Jesus Gutierrez-Ballejo Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Market Street Near 1st Street
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 29, 2019) – A man died April 22 as a result of a pedestrian accident on Market Street near 1st Street.
According to Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials, Jesus Gutierrez-Ballejo was identified as the fatal victim.
The 84-year-old died at Riverside Community Hospital nearly four hours after the incident.
Reports say Riverside police and fire departments responded to the scene around 7:10 a.m. Nine-one-one callers including the driver’s passenger alerted officials about the unresponsive pedestrian who’d been struck just moments prior.
As bystanders waited for paramedics, some rendered life-saving efforts in an attempt to resuscitate the Riverside man. Upon arriving, paramedics took over and transported him to RCH where he died shortly after.
Per investigations, officials learned that the Toyota Tacoma struck Gutierrez-Ballejo as it turned onto Market Street from eastbound 1st Street. Immediately after, the driver pulled over while the passenger contacted 911.
Although no arrests have been made, authorities are investigating this crash further.
