Santa Rosa Man Killed in Marin County Auto Accident on Highway 101 and Interstate 580

MARIN COUNTY, CA (April 25, 2023) – Early Saturday, Jay King III sustained injuries in a tragic two-vehicle crash on Highway 101.

The incident occurred at 3:34 a.m. on Highway 101 and Interstate 580.

According to the Golden Gate Communications Center, a northbound vehicle traveled in the southbound lanes of Highway 101. Eventually, the crash occurred on the highway, just north of Interstate 580.

CHP determined that a red Nissan pickup truck that traveled the wrong way collided head-on with a southbound black BMW sedan.

Then, the Nissan driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead.

At this time, the identity of the driver hasn’t been disclosed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the BMW’s driver, identified as Jay King III, 30, of Novato, sustained major injuries. Responders took him to Marin General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the authorities suspected the Nissan driver of driving under the influence, CHP Officer Darrel Horner revealed.

Furthermore, they urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer Ferguson at the Marin CHP Office at 415-924-1100.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
