Jason Char Dies in Motorcycle Crash With Driver on Texas Avenue Near Alamo Street
SIMI VALLEY, CA (April 8, 2019) – A Simi Valley motorcyclist died in a crash with a vehicle on Texas Avenue near Alamo Street Saturday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m., crews arrived at the scene to pronounce Jason Allen Char dead on arrival.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the 38-year-old man collided with a vehicle in the 2900 block of Texas Avenue.
Authorities determined that Char was traveling at a high speed on westbound Alamo Street. A California Highway Patrol officer noticed the rider and notified police dispatchers about the speeding motorcyclist in the area.
Subsequently, Char made a turn onto Texas Avenue yet plowed into the driver’s side of a northbound 2018 Toyota Corolla.
It appears the Toyota driver was attempting to pull into a driveway at the time. However, Char struck the side of the vehicle before going down with his 2014 Kawasaki Ninja. Meanwhile, the Toyota flipped sideways before rolling back down.
Following the incident, the 60-year-old Toyota driver sought treatment for her moderate injuries. So far, she’s been cooperative with investigators, who’ve ruled out the possibility of impairment as a factor.
An ongoing investigation continues yet authorities believe speed might have contributed to the crash.
