TRINITY COUNTY, CA (January 5, 2023) – Tuesday night, Janet Capes sustained injuries in a pedestrian crash on Highway 3 near Brady Road.
The incident happened at around 6:45 p.m. on Highway 3 near Brady Road.
According to reports, a northbound 2014 Toyota struck 73-year-old Janet Capes as she walked on the northbound lanes of the Highway. Reports said that the victim held an unilluminated flashlight at the time of the crash.
Then, the force of the crash threw the victim toward the northbound bicycle lane of the highway. Also, the Toyota driver, 57-year-old Sarah Ackerly, remained at the scene and called 911 after the collision.
Moreover, responders rushed Capes to a hospital with major injuries.
Furthermore, authorities confirmed that it was cold, raining, and foggy at the time of the incident.
