Jamie Pannyasy-Watts Injured, Joel Saldana Arrested in Kelseyville DUI Accident

 
KELSEYVILLE, CA (March 11, 2019) – Two drivers sustained injuries following a DUI collision in Kelseyville on Thursday, March 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Clear Lake Area office, the accident occurred on Highway 29 south of Cruickshank Road near Kelseyville.
 
The CHP stated that the accident happened around 12:55 a.m. south of Cruickshank Road. 26-year-old Joel Saldana of Kelseyville was driving a 2001 Lexus IS300 northbound on Highway 29. Soon after, Jamie Pannyasy-Watts, 35, of Clearlake Oaks was driving a 2003 Saturn ION southbound, approaching Saldana.
 
For unknown reasons that the CHP said are still investigating, Saldana crossed over the double yellow lines. Then he traveled across the roadway before he struck a dirt embankment on the southbound shoulder.
 
Saldana’s vehicle rolled over and then continued in a northerly direction within the southbound lane. After that, it traveled directly into the path of Pannyasy-Watts’ vehicle, resulting in a head-on crash. The two vehicles came to a stop in the southbound lane. Both drivers were trapped within their cars.
 
The Kelseyville Fire Protection District and CHP rushed to the area and extricated the two drivers.
 
The other driver, , sustained serious injuries in the accident, the CHP said.
 
Radio reports showed that the incident command tried to secure an air ambulance. Yet, weather prevented a helicopter from responding. Kelseyville Fire ground ambulance brought Pannyasy-Watts to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Then he received treatments for major injuries.
 
The CHP arrested Saldana on suspicion of felony DUI at the scene of the crash. Soon after, police transported him to Sutter Lakeside Hospital by Kelseyville Fire. He sustained treatment for moderate injuries. He was medically cleared later on.
 
Both drivers used their safety equipment, the CHP stated.
