James Lopez Killed in Motorcycle Accident on 405 Freeway near Mulholland Drive
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 4, 2020) — A man was killed Sunday evening in a motorcycle accident on the 405 Freeway near Mulholland Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident happened around 9:25 p.m., near the Skirball Center in Brentwood.
Witnesses say the motorcyclist might have lost control while attempting to navigate around a vehicle. CHP later indicated that an unidentified vehicle collided with the motorcycle in the carpool lane.
As a result of the accident, officials issued a SigAlert at 10:21 p.m., closing the carpool and No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes. However, the area has since reopened to traffic.
In addition, the coroner’s office later identified the Newbury Park victim as 28-year-old James Lopez.
Currently, an investigation remains as local authorities piece together outstanding details. No further information has been released at this time.
