13-Year-Old Injured in Round Rock Fatal Crash
Round Rock, TX (May 4, 2024) – 12-year-old Jaliyah Dodson was killed following a La Frontera Boulevard hit-and-run crash Thursday.
It was on April 11 when Jaliyah and her 13-year-old sister, Desirae Dodson, were walking back to their apartment complex after getting snacks at a 7-Eleven.
However, a white Mustang struck the girls while they were crossing the street.
Responding officers stated that the impact of the collision threw Jaliyah 168 feet.
Jaliyah and Desirae were transported to the hospital. Jaliyah succumbed to her injuries while Desirae incurred a broken leg and finger.
The Mustang driver, 21-year-old Jose Alfredo Gondina De La Cruz, ran away after the collision.
Moreover, the authorities found De La Cruz at his home and arrested him for second degree felony failure to stop and render aid causing death.
Court documents said “he was scared and did not know what to do, so he ran home and told his mother what had happened.”
De La Cruz will appear in court on May 14.
Meanwhile, Jaliyah’s family has created a GoFundMe to raise money for her funeral expenses.

Should the Loved Ones of Jaliyah Dodson File a Claim?
Dealing with the aftermath of a vehicle crash can seem unimaginable.
Thus, it is good to know that you may file a legal claim if you were injured or have lost a loved one in the collision.
A possible legal claim may help you move forward when a crash irreparably impacts you or your family.
Significantly, a wrongful death claim holds parties liable for the irrevocable damages they have caused.
Moreover, knowing that each state has laws covering who can file a wrongful death suit on
behalf of the deceased is helpful. These people are related to or depend financially on the person who died. The law usually allows the following people to file a wrongful death case:
- Surviving spouses;
- Domestic partners (registered domestic partnership);
- Children of the deceased;
- Financial dependents, parents, and minors under the care of the deceased;
- Personal representatives.
