Daniel Martinez Arrested in Deadly Hit-and-Run Collision on Kiowa Boulevard
San Antonio, TX (May 15, 2023) On May 6, 18-year-old Jacob Lopez died in an apparent hit-and-run crash on the 8500 block of IH-35 South.
According to SAPD, the deadly hit-and-run collision happened on May 6, Saturday at about 10:26 p.m. in the intersection with the 3000 block of Kiowa Boulevard.
Reports say that 66-year-old Daniel Martinez was driving an F150 pickup that struck Lopez’s bicycle from behind.
Officials say that Martinez, fled the scene after the collision without rendering aid to the fallen teenager. Martinez’s pickup continued down the frontage road.
Authorities say that rescuers found Lopez dead at the scene next to his bike. Officials say that Lopez was riding his bike from work when the incident happened.
Meanwhile, an anonymous tip helped authorities in finding Martinez in his home. When officers arrived at Martinez’s residence, they found the Ford matching the description of the hit-and-run vehicle.
SAPD arrested Daniel Martinez without incident and his truck was taken in as evidence.
