Jackie Roberts-Barron and Desiree Ramirez Hospitalized, Driver Dead in Two-Car Wreck at Central and Powhatan Roads
APPLE VALLEY, CA (November 30, 2018) – A 57-year-old Apple Valley woman lost her life Wednesday morning following a broadside crash at Central and Powhatan roads.
Authorities believe that the woman operating the black Honda Civic was heading westbound on Powhatan Road and had failed to stop at the posted stop sign at Central Road for unknown reasons. The Honda Civic was then broadsided by a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche traveling on Central Road. The impact sent both vehicles to the northwest corner of the intersection.
Paramedics confirmed the driver of the Honda Civic dead not long after. Desiree Ramirez, a 43-year-old Apple Valley resident who was a passenger in the Honda, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Jackie Roberts-Barron was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, deputies confirmed.
The details and cause of this crash remain unclear, but anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to call Deputy Cashion at 760-240-7400.
