1 Dead in Flagstaff Two-Vehicle Accident on Townsend-Winona Road

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (February 3, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a deadly crash on Townsend-Winona Road involved Jack Kimball.

The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. on Townsend-Winona Road.

The deputies with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Townsend-Winona Road and Oakwood Pines for reports of a two-vehicle accident.

Upon their arrival, they found a Ford Explorer and a Chevy Equinox.

Deputies initiated life-saving measures on the driver of the Explorer but he succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the Equinox driver sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention.

The 72-year-old Explorer driver, Jack Kimball of Flagstaff, drove recklessly at 10:20 a.m. in the area of Lucky and Huntington.

Then, the Explorer had gotten into a road rage incident with the Equinox.

Apparently, the Explorer traveling behind the Equinox drove on the right shoulder of Townsend-Winona Road in an attempt to pass the Equinox.

Then, the Explorer drove beside the Equinox on the shoulder of the road. Afterward, it started to crash into the right side of the Equinox. As a result, both vehicles lost control, crossed over the westbound lanes, and crash into a bar ditch.

The authorities haven’t clarified whether they will charge the Equinox driver.

Furthermore, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office handles the investigation.

During this tragic time, we would like to send our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of the victim of the crash on Townsend-Winona Road.
