Ferndale Woman Dies, Ismael Lopez Junior Arrested in DUI Crash Near Myrtle Avenue

 
Myrtletown, CA (December 17, 2020) – On Thursday, a female passenger died, while police arrested Ismael Lopez Jr in a DUI crash near Myrtle Avenue and Russell Lane.
 
Humboldt Bay Fire Department, City Ambulance, and CHP Officers responded to the scene at about 5 P.M.
 
When they arrived, they found a 2008 Nissan Altima that crashed with two parked vehicles.
 
Rescuers transported Lopez and his female passenger to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.
 
However, despite the life-saving efforts of fire, ambulance, and hospital personnel, the female passenger succumbed to her injuries at 02:36 A.M.
 
Meanwhile, the Humboldt County Coroner’s office withheld the deceased’s identification pending notification of next of kin.
 
Furthermore, authorities said alcohol and drugs were a factor in this accident.
 
They arrested Lopez for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in injuries.
