Ismael Huazo-Jardinez Arrested in Fatal DUI Collision With Trailer on Highway 113 Near Jennings Court
KNIGHTS LANDING, CA (May 6, 2019) – Three people died after a DUI driver struck a trailer on Highway 113 near Jennings Court Saturday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the family of three died, leaving only a girl with severe injuries.
The crash unfolded around 9:50 p.m. when 33-year-old Ismael Huazo-Jardinez was heading north on Highway 113 in a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche.
News reports say the Yuba City man failed to negotiate an S-curve along Highway 113, causing him to travel off the road and plow into a trailer.
A 38-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman, a 10-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl occupied the trailer at the time. However, due to the impact of the crash, all but the 11-year-old girl perished at the scene.
Soon after, paramedics transported the child to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.
According to Landlord Frankie Gonsalves, the Pachecos resembled a model family with two hard-working parents.
Due to his intoxication levels, officers arrested Huazo-Jardinez at the scene and transported him to Rideout Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries. Police then booked him into the Sutter County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
