Isidrone Martinez Arrested after Deadly DUI Crash on Interstate 5 and La Costa Avenue [Carlsbad, CA]

Several Injured in Fatal Carlsbad Accident on Interstate 5 and La Costa Avenue

CARLSBAD, CA (March 24, 2022) – Early Wednesday, authorities arrested Isidrone Martinez following a deadly DUI crash on Interstate 5 and La Costa Avenue.

The incident occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on Interstate 5 and La Costa Avenue.

According to reports, authorities arrested 20-year-old Isidrone Martinez of Oceanside on suspicion of felony DUI causing death and other charges.

Reports said that Martinez drove north on Interstate 5 in a Honda Civic with four passengers. Then, he came on a hard closure for a Caltrans construction zone south of La Costa Avenue. However, Martinez drove into the hard closure and then veered left toward the No. 2 lane.

Eventually, he crashed with the right rear of a Toyota Prius.

As a result, the Honda veered to the right, went into an embankment, and overturned multiple times.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old male passenger from Martinez’s vehicle died before getting a hospitalization. Also, Isidrone Martinez sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Moreover, the Prius driver and passenger sustained minor injuries.

Also, the crash affected traffic on the freeway while crews investigate the scene.

The lanes of northbound Interstate 5 remained close for more than five hours. However, by 9:30 a.m., all lanes have reopened.
