Ioan Tudosa Survives Fatal Highway 120 Crash in Groveland
GROVELAND, CA (November 19, 2018) – A Groveland man was killed Friday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 120 near Smith Station Road.
Around 10:42 a.m., Ioan Tudosa – a 43-year-old San Francisco resident – was driving a 2018 Nissan Versa westbound on the highway. As he was traveling 50 mph toward San Francisco, Tudosa grew distracted, which caused his Nissan to travel over the solid yellow center line and into the eastbound lanes of traffic. There, his Nissan collided head-on with an eastbound Acura, vehicle driven by a Groveland man.
Both cars sustained major front-end damage and the Nissan came to a rest on the north shoulder of the highway, facing south, while the Acura came to a stop, straddling both lanes of the highway.
Tudosa, who was wearing his seatbelt, was brought to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. The driver of the Acura, who was only wearing the shoulder portion of his seatbelt, died in the crash.
CHP has confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash; however, a follow-up investigation is underway.
