Off Duty Officer Critically Injured in Vacaville Crash
VACAVILLE, CA (April 4, 2019) – Thursday afternoon, two people were injured in a head-on collision on Ulatis Drive.
Officials stated the accident occurred at 4:00 PM at the intersection of Christine Drive and Ulatis Drive, near Cooper Elementary School. Officials identified one of the vehicles being a Jeep driven by a 47-year-old off duty Fairfield lieutenant. The other car was a dog grooming van driven by a 36-year-old woman from Vacaville.
As per reports, the van was making a right turn onto Ulatis Drive when it collided with the Jeep. Several witnesses said the Jeep was driving erratically before he crossed into her lane. As a result of the impact, the van overturned
First responders arrived shortly after. The off duty officer sustained multiple fractures to his elbow, arm, and leg. He was transported to Kaiser Permanente in Vacaville. The woman was also injured, the extent of her injuries are unknown. There have been no updates on their medical condition. Due to the collision, Ulatis Drive was closed for several hours.
There has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the accident at this time as the investigation continues.
