1 Dead in Fresno Hit-and-Run Accident on Santa Avenue

FRESNO, CA (May 5, 2024) – Friday night, a horrific pedestrian crash on Santa Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 10:00 p.m. on Santa Avenue in Fresno.

The driver initially refused to stop, prompting police to initiate a brief pursuit. However, one of the field supervisors at the scene decided to cancel the pursuit. Despite this, the vehicle continued traveling westbound on Santa Ana Avenue.

Then, as the vehicle approached a park, it mounted the curb and struck two individuals. One of the victims, a male, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, while the other victim sadly succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The suspect’s vehicle then proceeded to navigate through the park’s parking lot and into the neighborhood west of Fashion Field Mall. In an attempt to flee, the vehicle collided and became wedged between a pole and a tree along Santa Ana and Festa.

Authorities have disclosed that there were two men inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Currently, police are actively searching for these two suspects.
