1 Dead in San Carlos Pedestrian Accident on 1400 El Camino Real
SAN CARLOS, CA (December 25, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Hok Gwan Jong was arrested after a horrific pedestrian crash on 1400 El Camino Real.
The incident happened at about 6:57 a.m. on the 1400 block of El Camino Real.
According to reports, the first driver, a 27-year-old Redwood City man headed north on El Camino Real. Then, his vehicle hit the man crossing the road.
Paramedics responded to the scene and tried to revive the victim. However, he succumbed to injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the first vehicle suffered no injuries and has been cooperative with law enforcement. Also, preliminary investigation revealed that drugs and alcohol didn’t play a role in the initial crash.
Meanwhile, the investigation also revealed that a second vehicle also hit the victim and fled the scene. Eventually, officers found the second vehicle near Harris Avenue and Adams Street in Redwood City.
Then, they arrested the driver, 66-year-old Jong from San Mateo, on suspicion of felony hit and run and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility. Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the death to contact Deputy G. Ramirez at (650) 802-4277.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
