Driver Flees After Striking Multiple Cars in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 28, 2019) – Police are searching for a hit-and-run vehicle that struck and damaged several parked cars along Atkins Avenue near 65th Street Wednesday night.
Officers responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. In the 6500 block of Atkins Avenue, police found multiple vehicles, including a van, with serious damage.
Detectives believe the van overturned due to the forceful impact of the crash. According to witnesses, the driver of a white Dodge Charger traveling at speeds of 90 mph struck the vehicles and littered a homeowner’s yard with debris from the crash.
Witnesses said that a second car might have sped away from the accident and dragged debris along with it.
Following the accident, paramedics treated a man located near the crash. Police interviewed the unidentified person and released him shortly after.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
