Pedestrian Killed after Hit-And-Run Crash on South Downey Road in East Los Angeles

East Los Angeles, CA (October 27, 2023) – Tuesday night, a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on South Downey Road.

CHP said the crash happened at around 7:10 p.m. on S. Downey Road, where the driver of a silver Honda Pilot struck a male pedestrian and fled the scene.

As they escaped, the driver is thought to have gone southbound on Downey Road toward Telegraph Road. 

The Honda Pilot is expected to sustain significant front-end damage as a result of the incident, according to investigators. 

The victim died at the crash scene.

Further investigation to locate the suspect is ongoing.
