Motorcyclist Jarod Officer and Passenger Injured in Petaluma South Boulevard Hit-and-Run, Pickup Driver at Large
Petaluma, Ca (June 17, 2020)– On Sunday afternoon, a hit-and-run collision on Petaluma Boulevard South left Jarod Officer, 53, injured.
The California Highway Patrol is still searching for the Chevrolet pickup driver who fled the scene.
The collision took place on June 14 on Petaluma Boulevard South, north of Landing Way.
Moreover, CHP Spokesman David DeRutte said the collision occurred at around 5:15 p.m.
According to DeRutte, the collision involved 2 vehicles.
He described the vehicles as a BMW motorcycle driven by Mr. Officer, and a dark red Chevrolet truck.
An early investigation showed both vehicles initially travelled southbound on Petaluma Boulevard South.
The motorcycle was behind the truck when suddenly, the Chevrolet turned right as if trying to exit the roadway.
Indeed, the truck made an illegal U-turn directly in front of the motorcycle, which resulted in the collision.
DeRutte said the motorcycle struck the left side of the pickup truck. Thus, both motorcycle riders were extricated from the vehicle.
The 53-year-old motorcyclist, and the 47-year-old passenger, an Oakland woman, both suffered major injuries. They were brought to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatments. Moreover, they are expected to survive their wounds.
After the incident, the Chevrolet fled the scene shortly. It was last seen leaving in a northbound direction on Petaluma Boulevard South, deRutte said.
On-going Search For Pickup Driver
CHP has no description of the driver yet. However, Chevrolet was described as a maroon or dark red in color. In addition, it has a black lumber rack with toolboxes on both sides. CHP also added that the Chevy probably has damage on its left side.
DeRutte is asking for anyone to call the Santa Rosa CHP office at 707-588-1400 if they have any useful information.
