Hendrik Block Detained in DUI Hit-and-Run Accident on Avenue 12 Near Loren Way
MADERA, CA (January 31, 2020) — A suspected DUI hit-and-run crash early Wednesday left several properties destroyed and a Madera County Supervisor running candidate arrested.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Hendrik Edward Block, 43, lost control of his Dodge Ram and struck Maria Macias‘ mailbox as he traveled down Avenue 12. From there, he over-corrected and plowed into a fence and a parked vehicle before crashing into a home on the other side of the road.
Block, an upcoming ballot for this year’s election, then tried fleeing until officers caught up to him.
After observing him, they determined that he showed signs of impairment and arrested him on hit-and-run and DUI charges. Reports indicated no injuries from involved parties.
According to Madera County Elections Offices, Block will remain on the ballot at this time.
