Hector Carreiro Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Coalinga Avenue Near 23rd Street
RICHMOND, CA (February 10, 2020)—A 4-year-old boy died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Friday evening on Coalinga Avenue near 23rd Street.
According to officers, the deadly event first happened at around 5 p.m. in the 2200 block of Coalinga Avenue.
Authorities identified the driver of a metallic blue two-door Ford Explorer as the perpetrator.
He struck the 4-year-old when he began crossing the street with his father.
In addition, the driver failed to stop and provide aid to the injured child and continued westbound on Coalinga Avenue.
Not long after, Hector Carreiro died due to his severe injuries. The driver later turned himself in to Richmond police Saturday evening.
Police did not disclose the driver’s identity or specify whether they plan to file any charges.
