OAKLAND, CA (June 27, 2022) – Sunday morning, a 28-year-old Hayward man died in a pedestrian crash on 5400 International Boulevard.
 
The incident occurred at around 1:51 a.m. in the 5400 block of International Boulevard.
 
According to reports, a 19-year-old Oakland man drove a Nissan 350Z at a high rate of speed. Moreover, he traveled on International Boulevard in a lane designated for buses only.
 
As a result, he crashed with a vehicle turning onto International Boulevard from 54th Avenue. Then, the Nissan hit several parked vehicles, including some SUVs and motorcycles.
 
Eventually, one of the SUVs crashed into a group of people standing on the sidewalk. As a result, the Hayward man succumbed to injuries while three others required hospitalization.
 
Then, the Nissan drove another 150 feet until it stopped in the westbound lanes of International Boulevard.
 
Officers revealed that they arrested the driver at the scene.
 
Apparently, the driver had just left a sideshow in another part of East Oakland, about a mile away. Also, the authorities haven’t confirmed whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
