Latisha Ingram Arrested after Ha Minh Ta Dies in San Diego Car Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 27, 2019) – A man was killed following DUI hit-and-run crash late Thursday evening in San Diego.
The fatal incident happened around 11:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Convoy Street.
The victim, 25-year-old Ha Minh Ta, tried to stop Latisha Cherme Ingram, 33, from getting behind the wheel after a night out. Ta held onto Ingram’s car as she backed out of a parking space.
Ingram drove away and turned southbound onto Convoy Street, knocking Ta to the ground and running him over with her car.
Responding paramedics rushed Ta to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police arrested Ingram a short time later with multiple charges. The charges include murder, gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and hit-and-run resulting in death.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Jay Bloom set bail at $2.5 million for Ingram, who pleaded not guilty to the charges and is set to return to court on July 15 for a readiness conference.
Ingram faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted of second-degree murder, Deputy District Attorney Philippa Cunningham said. She said Ingram has a 2010 DUI conviction in Orange County.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the loved ones and friends of Ha Minh Ta.
