Gerardo Jayme Injured in Fatal Head-On Collision near Santa Fe Drive
MADERA, CA (May 16, 2019) – A Groveland man died Thursday evening following a head-on crash on Avenue 15. Authorities withheld the identity of the 63-year-old victim, pending family notification.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Santa Fe Drive, at about 5:30 PM. Due to unknown reasons, a westbound 2010 Chrysler 300 drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with an eastbound Ford Transit van.
The driver of the van died at the scene. Meanwhile, emergency responders rushed Jayme to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Further updates on his current condition were not provided.
An investigation is ongoing to identify factors that contributed to the fatal collision. Anyone with information is asked to cooperate with investigators as soon as possible. Additional details will be released once they become available.
